HODGENVILLE, KY: Amy Litton Awarded Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Science Teachers Association

LaRue County Schools is honored to celebrate Amy Litton, teacher at LaRue County High School, who has been awarded the Oustanding Teacher of the Year award by the Kentucky Science Teachers Association.

This award recognizes exemplary science teachers across the state of Kentucky who are helping to advance KSTA's mission of effective and innovative science education.

Reflecting on the news of Litton’s award Justin Craft, LCHS Principal, reflected, "Amy is a teacher who knows the curriculum inside and out. What makes her truly special is how she inspires students to learn the curriculum by making her lessons fun and interesting. Her students are understanding how the world around them works by the projects she leads them through in her classroom.”

Litton was honored as the recipient in the category of secondary teachers (those who teach grades 6-12). The curriculum at the high school level is notoriously challenging for students. Adryanne Warren, Superintendent of LaRue County Schools, calls out this particular aspect of Litton’s award as worthy of praise, “Teaching at any grade level is challenging for different reasons in different grades. The obstacle high school science teachers face is helping students grasp a complex structure of content that requires a systematic approach. Even more so, because the content can be difficult for students to understand, the learning process must be engaging. For Amy to win this award is truly something worth celebrating. Having the caliber of teachers like Amy at LaRue County Schools is outstanding.”

Litton was presented her award at the KSTA Recognition Event hosted in the Chevrolet Theatre at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky on November 8, 2024.
