Preparing To Launch Into A New School Year

As summer winds down and the start of the new school year approaches, LaRue County Schools wants to ensure families and community members are informed and prepared. Whether you’re a returning parent, new to the district, or simply looking for a way to support students, there are a few important reminders ahead of the first day.

The official calendar for the 2025-2026 school year is now available on the district website: larue.kyschools.us. Families can find key dates, including the first day of school, scheduled breaks like Fall Break, Winter Break, and Spring Break, teacher work days, and the final day of classes. Reviewing the current calendar ahead of time can help families plan accordingly and avoid any surprises as the year gets underway.

For those who haven’t yet registered their child for the upcoming school year, now is the time. Online registration is available on the district website under the “Enroll” tab at the top of the homepage. The process includes step-by-step instructions for returning families, new students, and those coming from outside the district. Completing this early helps schools finalize class rosters, staffing, and resources so students can start strong on day one.

In the coming weeks, parents can expect more detailed information about classroom assignments, supply lists, school fees, and other back-to-school essentials. This information will come directly from each school, either by email, printed letters, or phone calls. If families have specific questions, they can reach out to the principal of their child’s school directly.

Finally, if you’re a community member interested in volunteering this school year, we’d love to have your support. Principals at each school can help connect volunteers with opportunities to serve and will also provide information about scheduling and background checks to ensure student safety.

LaRue County Schools is thankful for the ongoing support of families and the broader Hawk Family. With your partnership, we’re looking forward to another great year of learning and growth together.
