School Maintenance Prepares for Another Spotless Year Supporting Students
As the school district prepares for another year, one team is continuing its upkeep for students. WL Miller, Maintenance Director at LaRue County Schools, along with his team have been hard at work making the facilities a place students, teachers and staff will love to be.
Fundamentally, the maintenance staff are the hidden heroes of LaRue County Schools’ halls. They keep buildings warm throughout winter and cool during the summer. Throughout the summer and school year, they invest in preventive maintenance on over 300 HVAC units. They’re also mindful of doors staying locked to keep students and teachers secure.
While the students are out, summer projects have been a priority, Miller said. From repairing HVAC units around the district to replacing lighting at Hodgenville Elementary School, summer for the maintenance team has been anything but quiet.
“Mowing all the district’s schools is a constant battle,” he said.“The Custodians have been working hard on waxing the floors and cleaning at each school. This CHAMP project is going smoothly and requires daily presence.”
“You have to prioritize and work your way down the list. Some days your plans get changed quickly and you just have to roll with the punches. I have to say that I am proud of all the maintenance staff. They are very knowledgeable and have a skillset to repair a wide variety of problems across the District.”
“Our custodians have worked tirelessly to clean the buildings and wax all the floors this summer,” Miller said. “I am blessed to be surrounded by so many good people that truly care about making LCS better.”
The school maintenance teams are also looking for more hands. There are currently two full-time custodial positions open. Anyone interested in working for the school district’s maintenance team can contact WL Miller at 270-766-8040.
