Project Graduation, an Annual LCHS Tradition

For many years, Project Graduation has been one of the most anticipated traditions associated with graduation at LaRue County High School. Known for strong participation and memorable experiences, the event has become a longstanding way for seniors to celebrate safely with classmates following commencement.

This year’s Project Graduation embraced a Neon theme and once again transformed graduation night into an experience designed specifically for graduating seniors. The event provided students an opportunity to spend one final evening together before summer began and their paths moved toward college, careers, military service, and other opportunities.

Graduates participating in this year’s celebration had access to a wide range of activities including pickleball tournaments, volleyball tournaments, basketball tournaments, card and board games, arcade games, Nerf Wars, bounce houses, Rolling in the Dough, and additional activities designed to keep seniors engaged throughout the night.

While students experienced the fun and excitement of the evening, Project Graduation represented months of planning and fundraising by parents and volunteers. Hosting the event requires significant financial support each year, and parents of every graduating class take on the responsibility of raising those funds through countless community efforts. Over the years, fundraising has included Duck Derbies, raffles, roadside donation drives, and many other initiatives supported by local businesses and community members.

The event also depends heavily on volunteers. Project Graduation takes a bare minimum of 15 parent volunteers to operate, though additional help is needed to make the event successful and provide the experience students have come to expect.

The continued popularity of Project Graduation among LaRue County students speaks to the impact of the tradition. Year after year, seniors have chosen to participate, creating memories and reinforcing a culture where celebration and safety go hand in hand.

“Project Graduation reflects what makes our community special because it demonstrates how families, staff, and supporters come together to invest in students beyond the classroom,” said LaRue County Schools Superintendent Adryanne Warren. “This event gives our graduates the opportunity to celebrate a major milestone safely, enjoy time with classmates, and launch into summer knowing they are supported by an entire community that believes in them and their future.”

As the Class of 2026 begins its next chapter, Project Graduation once again served as a reminder that in LaRue County, graduation is celebrated not only with a diploma, but with a community committed to helping students mark the milestone in a way that is meaningful, memorable, and safe.
