LC Leadership Program Visits LCS

Leadership LaRue, a local leadership program hosted by The LaRue County Chamber of Commerce, visited LaRue County Schools last week, and Hodgenville Elementary School Principal Patrick Reed had the unique opportunity to be both host and participant in the event.

Various businesses around LaRue County host visits from Leadership LaRue throughout a given cohort year, allowing the participants to see how different parts of the community function, from local government to industry to school system.

On Thursday, April 11, 2025, the 2024-2025 cohort visited different buildings within the district, having the opportunity to visit classrooms, observe instruction, and hear from staff a general overview of how the school system operates. Reed, a member of this year’s cohort, acted as host when the group visited HES, where he serves as principal.

“I love LaRue County and have my entire life,” Reed says. “It was my honor to host my fellow Leadership LaRue cohort members to visit my HES family this past week. Our staff does an incredible job of creating a fun and safe learning environment for our students. I could not have been more proud of our students who presented to the group about what they are currently learning in class.”

Adryanne Warren, LaRue County Schools superintendent, explained why events like this are vital to the future of the district, “School systems can seem like they are fairly simple operations: students come to school, they go to class, eat lunch, go back to class, then go home for the night. But in reality, it is more than that. Our staff serves over 2,000 students from our community every school day, and much of that goes well beyond education in the classroom. Leadership LaRue allows us the opportunity to show a group who is also invested in the future of our community a glimpse under the hood at how the mechanics of the district work.”

The group toured other schools in the district, having the opportunity to have their vitals checked by students in the Health Science lab at LaRue County High School, observing the foundational work getting the youngest Hawks started at Preschool On College Street, participating in a group project with students at LaRue County Middle School, and holding a class pet – “Rudy” the hedgehog at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
