Homecoming Week Highlights Hawk Pride
Homecoming week returns to LaRue County High School next week, bringing with it a full slate of school spirit, student participation, and longtime tradition centered around Hawk basketball.
Basketball Homecoming is one of two annual homecoming celebrations at LCHS—alongside football season—and serves as a mid-winter reminder of the pride, connection, and shared identity that define the Hawk community. Throughout the week, students will take part in themed dress-up days designed to spark creativity, fun, and collective celebration across campus.
The spirit week lineup includes:
• Monday – Ballers vs. Scholars
• Tuesday – Tacky Tourists
• Wednesday – Rhyme Without a Reason
• Thursday – BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms
• Friday – Hawk Spirit Day
Each theme invites students to participate in low-stakes fun while reinforcing a sense of belonging—an intentional focus for school leaders during what can be a fast-paced and demanding time of year for high school students.
LCHS Principal Whitney Choate said Homecoming week plays an important role in strengthening school culture.
“School culture matters deeply to us at LCHS,” Choate said. “Homecoming week gives us a dedicated opportunity to come together, have some fun, and celebrate what it means to be a Hawk. High school is a busy season of life for students—from freshmen finding their footing to seniors preparing for what comes next. This week serves as a reminder to look up, enjoy the moment, and know that every student belongs to something bigger than themselves.”
The celebration often extends beyond the high school. Abraham Lincoln Elementary School, Hodgenville Elementary School, and LaRue County Middle School frequently join in, reinforcing a district-wide sense of Hawk pride and continuity from the earliest grades through graduation.
As students, staff, and families rally around basketball Homecoming, the week serves as more than just themed outfits and festivities—it reflects a longstanding tradition rooted in community, connection, and shared pride in LaRue County Schools.
Basketball Homecoming festivities will culminate later in the week with on-court celebrations honoring students and reinforcing the enduring spirit of the Hawk Family.
