Eight Things Parents Need to Know About ParentSquare
LaRue County Schools uses ParentSquare to give families one central place for announcements, messages, reminders, forms and other important information. Here are eight things parents and guardians should know.
1. It is the district’s official communication platform
Families may have received information through automated calls, emails, ClassDojo and other tools in the past. ParentSquare is the official communication platform for LaRue County Schools.
2. It connects families with school staff
District leaders, administrators and teachers can communicate directly with families through ParentSquare. Depending on the message, parents may also respond, ask questions or complete forms.
3. Important announcements are posted there
ParentSquare is used for district announcements, school news, classroom information, event reminders and schedule changes. It is also used for time-sensitive information, including weather-related delays, early dismissals and school closings.
Announcements may also appear on social media, but ParentSquare remains the district’s official source.
4. Messages can arrive in several ways
Depending on their preference settings and the type of announcement, parents may receive information through:
- App notifications
- Text messages
- Emails
- Automated telephone calls
- Messages inside the app
Parents do not have to keep the app open to receive updates.
5. Notification frequency can be customized
Parents can choose instant alerts for each new message or have routine notifications grouped into a digest. These settings allow families to decide how frequently they want to receive non-urgent updates.
6. Current contact information is essential
ParentSquare works best when the district has the correct telephone number and email address for each family. Parents should contact their child’s school whenever this information changes.
Changing information on a personal device or inside the app may not update every school record.
7. Address changes should also be reported
Families should notify the school about changes to home or mailing addresses, emergency contacts and other important household information. These updates may affect student records, transportation, mailed documents and emergency communication.
8. The app is free, and help is available
ParentSquare is available through Apple’s App Store and the Google Play Store. Families experiencing technical problems or seeing incorrect student information should contact their school. The principal or school office can provide help or connect them with the appropriate district staff member.
